Position Overview:

OYA Solar is actively looking to hire a Senior Analyst who possesses knowledge and experience in the Alternative Energy industry and will play an important role in contributing to OYA’s financial and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have sector specific experience and knowledge pertaining to regional regulatory environments in North America and the development process for commercial and utility scale solar PV plants. They will be actively involved in the origination and development of solar PV plants and also the evaluation of M&A and other strategic opportunities in the sector.

Serving as a key deal team member, this individual will focus on:

  • Working with local partners in multiple jurisdictions to navigate regulatory, technical, financial and legal hurdles relating to the firm’s projects;
  • Managing due diligence, financial modeling, analytics and presentation to support the firm’s Principals in structuring, negotiating and closing the off-take, acquisition and financing of solar assets
  • Identifying opportunities for improving performance of key parameters
  • Tracking and analyzing regional regulatory policies relating to solar PV and recommend new markets for the firm after creating comprehensive financial models;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders including origination and channel partners, investors, off-takers, developers, suppliers, engineering firms and local regulatory authorities;
  • The development of proposals, bids, RFPs, information memorandums, presentations, project schedules and internal presentation to support strategic and M&A opportunities;
  • Corporate finance activities and tracking for our existing portfolio of operating assets and those in development.
  • Supporting and reviewing work of the Financial Analyst

Job Requirements – Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (economics, policy, energy economics, etc.)
  • Some prior experience in investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Consulting or Energy Retailing/Trading is an asset
  • MBA or related graduate degree preferred
  • Must have excellent financial modelling skills and strong quantitative ability
  • Energy sector experience and/or strong knowledge base of the renewable energy industry is an asset, particularly in the structuring of Power Purchase Agreements, Solar Leasing Arrangements, Tax Equity, Partnership Flips, Sale Leasebacks and other alternative financing structures
  • Knowledge of the regulatory and political issues underlying policy development in the energy sector is an asset
  • Required to have strong ability to conduct research and write briefing note material
  • Must have advanced MS Excel skills and PowerPoint skills
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills
